Easy No-Yeast Pizza Crust

When you want homemade pizza but don’t have any yeast on hand, don’t worry—you can still make a delicious no-yeast pizza crust dough from scratch.
This easy no-yeast pizza crust dough comes together with simple pantry ingredients, plus milk for a tender, flavorful crust. There’s no waiting for dough to rise and no complicated techniques. Just mix, knead briefly, rest, roll, and bake.
I originally made this recipe when we had family visiting for the weekend and I wanted to make personal pizzas for everyone. I needed enough dough for seven individual pizzas, and when I realized I didn’t have yeast, I decided to improvise.
Thankfully, the experiment worked. The pizzas were such a hit that this quick pizza crust is now one I’ll happily make again.

Easy No-Yeast Pizza Crust
Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add the oil and milk and mix.
- Begin adding 1¼ cups of warm water, mixing as you go. Add additional water a tablespoon at a time only if needed.
- The finished dough should be soft and smooth and slightly tacky, but it should not be sticky.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 2–3 minutes, just until smooth.
- There's no need for extensive kneading because this is a baking-powder-based dough rather than a yeast dough.

- Cover the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- This short rest makes the dough easier to roll and shape.
- Divide the dough into 7 roughly equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a circle approximately 15–18 cm (6–7 inches) across.
- For a thinner, crispier crust, roll the dough more thinly. For a softer crust, leave it slightly thicker.
- Place the pizza bases on lightly greased baking trays and prick the centers several times with a fork.
- Bake the plain crusts for 5–6 minutes.
- Pre-baking helps keep the center from becoming soggy once the sauce and toppings are added.
- Remove the crusts from the oven and add your pizza sauce, cheese, and favorite toppings.
- For a quick homemade sauce, try our Easy Pizza Sauce with Tomato Paste.
- Return the pizzas to the oven and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted and bubbling.

Tips for the Best No-Yeast Pizza Crust
Don’t add all the water at once. Different flours absorb different amounts of liquid, so start with 1¼ cups and add more only as needed.
Don’t over-knead the dough. A few minutes is plenty.
Don’t skip the pre-bake. Especially with a no-yeast crust, pre-baking helps give you a sturdier base that won’t become soggy underneath the toppings.
Let everyone make their own. For family pizza night, divide the dough into individual portions and let everyone choose their own toppings. It’s dinner and an activity all in one!Serving Ideas
Try your no-yeast pizza crust with:
- Homemade tomato-paste pizza sauce
- Mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- Pepperoni
- Cooked ground beef
- Bell peppers
- Mushrooms
- Sweetcorn
- Onions
- Olives
- Fresh tomatoes
For a fun family pizza night, put all the toppings on the table and let everyone create their own personal pizza.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make pizza dough without yeast?
Yes! Baking powder can be used as the leavening agent in a quick pizza dough. The texture will be different from traditional yeast pizza—it will be more tender and slightly less chewy—but it’s a delicious option when you want homemade pizza without waiting for dough to rise.
Can I use water instead of milk?
Yes. You can replace the milk with additional warm water, although milk gives the crust a softer and slightly richer texture.
Can I make the dough ahead of time?
Yes. Wrap the prepared dough tightly and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours. Allow it to come closer to room temperature before rolling.
How many pizzas does this recipe make?
This recipe makes 7 personal-sized pizzas, approximately 6–7 inches each. You can easily divide the dough differently if you prefer larger or smaller pizzas.
Emily’s Notes
A Simple Pizza Night at Home
Some of our favorite family meals aren’t complicated at all. Sometimes it’s just a kitchen full of people choosing toppings, flour on the counter, and everyone eating a pizza they made themselves.
That’s exactly what happened when we made these pizzas when my three young nieces were visiting for the weekend. They were such a hit that I knew this recipe needed to make its way onto the website. My oldest son has been asking me for days when I am going to make this pizza crust again because he loved it so much.
If you make these, I hope they become part of one of your own good family memories.
