About Us

Hi, I’m Emily.

I’m a mom and home cook living in eastern Uganda with my family. This space is where I share the meals we make, the life we’re living, and the places we get to explore along the way.

Life here looks a little different than what we were used to before — slower in some ways, fuller in others. Most days revolve around simple routines, cooking from scratch, and making the most of what we have.

Over time, I’ve learned how to create meals that are simple, practical, and flexible — the kind of recipes that work in real life, with real ingredients, and busy family rhythms.

It’s not always polished or perfect, but it’s real — and that’s what I love sharing here.

Here you’ll find:

I started sharing all of this as a way to document our life — the ordinary moments, the meals we keep coming back to, and the places that have shaped our experience here.

If you’re looking for simple recipes, a peek into life in Uganda, or just something real and encouraging, I’m so glad you’re here.

Our YouTube Channel

We’re a Ugandan-American family of five who traded U.S. suburbia for rural Uganda, and we share that journey on our YouTube channel, Isn’t Life Extraordinary.

From homeschooling and fish farming to cultural transitions, parenting, and building a new life off the beaten path, our videos capture both the challenges and the joy of this season.

You’ll find:

  • daily life in Uganda
  • raising kids abroad
  • family routines, challenges, and wins
  • lessons we’re learning along the way

If you enjoy authentic, family-centered content and real-life storytelling, you’re always welcome there too.

Real life in Uganda. Ordinary days. Extraordinary life.
