Exploring Uganda

Exploring Uganda

Uganda keeps surprising us in the best ways. From everyday life in eastern Uganda to the kind of views that make you pull over just to take it in, we’re slowly exploring Uganda – this beautiful country we now call home — and sharing bits of it as we go.

Free Family Travel Checklist

If you’re planning family travel of your own, I’ve put together a simple free travel packing checklist we use for our own trips — especially helpful for keeping things organized when traveling with kids.

Based in Mbale and often traveling between home and the village in Tororo District, a lot of what we experience starts on the road — passing through towns, stopping for roadside food, and discovering places we never planned on finding.

From safari drives out on the savannah, to standing in awe at the power of the world’s strongest waterfalls in Murchison Falls National Park, to quiet roads, busy towns, and everything in between — traveling Uganda has honestly been such a gift.

Come along with us as we explore Uganda, the Pearl of Africa, one region at a time:

Murchison Falls, uganda - the world's strongest waterfall

NORTHERN UGANDA

Wide open spaces, wildlife, and a kind of quiet you don’t forget

Long roads, open landscapes, and moments that make you feel completely present in it all. From safari moments in Kidepo to standing at the edge of the powerful waterfalls in Murchison Falls, this region shows a side of Uganda that feels wide, wild, and unforgettable.

Central Uganda

CENTRAL UGANDA

Busy streets, lake escapes, and everyday Kampala life

From time spent exploring Kampala to getting out toward Lake Victoria, Central Uganda is a place we’ve come back to many times — seeing a little more with each visit. It’s busy and always interesting, with something new to notice each time we’re there.

EASTERN UGANDA

Home base, green hills, and the places we know best

Eastern Uganda is home for us. Based in Mbale and often traveling between here and the village in Tororo District, this is where most of our everyday life happens — and where a lot of our exploring begins.
From familiar roads to places like Sipi Falls, and over toward Jinja where the Nile begins, it’s a region we keep coming back to, seeing differently with each trip.

WESTERN UGANDA

Safari landscapes and some of the most iconic views in the country

Western Uganda is the one that feels like a postcard.
Game drives, crater lakes, rolling hills, and those wide golden sunsets you don’t forget easily.
It’s where you go for big scenery moments — and where Uganda really shows off with places like Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Bunyonyi and beyond.
