About Us - Isn't Life Extraordinary

Hi, I’m Emily — a wife, mom of three, and American living in eastern Uganda with my family.

A bit about us: This space is where I share our family travel experiences across Uganda and East Africa, along with the practical tools, packing lists, and real-life moments that come with traveling and living abroad with kids.

Life here looks very different from what we were used to before. It’s slower in some ways, fuller in others, and deeply shaped by both everyday routines and the places we get to explore together.

From school mornings and cooking at home to weekend trips, long travel days, and time spent exploring Uganda and beyond — our life is a mix of ordinary rhythms and extraordinary experiences.

Over time, I’ve also learned how important simple systems are for family travel — especially when it comes to long-haul flights, packing with kids, and staying organized on the road. That’s why I now share practical travel resources that make family travel easier and less overwhelming.

Here you’ll find:

I started sharing our journey as a way to document real life — not just the highlight moments, but also the in-between: the travel days, the routines, the meals, and the learning curves of building a life in a new place.

If you’re planning family travel, curious about Uganda or East Africa, or just looking for practical, real-world travel advice from someone living it, I’m so glad you’re here.

About Us - Our Family

We’re a Ugandan-American family of five who traded U.S. suburbia for rural Uganda, and we share that journey on our YouTube channel, Isn’t Life Extraordinary.

From homeschooling and fish farming to cultural transitions, parenting, and building a new life off the beaten path, our videos capture both the challenges and the joy of this season.

You’ll find:

  • daily life in Uganda
  • raising kids abroad
  • family routines, challenges, and wins
  • lessons we’re learning along the way

If you enjoy authentic, family-centered content and real-life storytelling, you’re always welcome there too.

Real life in Uganda. Ordinary days. Extraordinary life.
